Just Not Your Day

Just Not Your Day

The day started, with a switched off mobile which led to a missed alarm for Neetika, who had to be in a super important meeting at exactly 9:30 AM. And there she was at 10:00 AM, with a dead mobile. Imagining her boss’s angry face gave her the shivers even before she could read the messages on her mobile and uncountable missed calls and messages from all the team members. Neetika obviously could not go late to work on the day of such an important meeting; however, she could think of an absolutely critical and unique emergency and not go at all. She kept thinking of excuses, and all weird thoughts started to pop up in her mind but none qualified as a good excuse. Neetika had her mind working on the perfect excuse and at the same time, she decided to enjoy the day at hand. She planned to run some errands in the morning as well as get herself pampered at the salon during the afternoon and party with her school friends in the evening.

She went to the supermarket, completed her grocery list, only to realise that she wasn’t carrying her wallet. She had to cancel the transaction. Neetika rushed home, picked up her wallet and went straight to the salon, thinking she could order the groceries online.

At the salon, she got herself duly pampered and was about to complete her session, when hot wax spilt on her face, which was attended to with cold water immediately but the burning sensation continued. Neetika was super angry and teary-eyed and with burning skin and met with an accident due to the compromised vision.

Neetika had hit the vegetable cart, and the vegetables had fallen off and some were crushed. The cart guy did not settle for money and called police. Neetika had to go to the police station, while he got the complaint written. Her address, phone number, parent’s details, office details everything was noted down and then after almost 2 hours, she was allowed to leave.

By the time she reached back home, she was frustrated and very upset. She did not wish to have any party with that spoiled face and mood. She just lied down and kept speculating.
She could not and did not even want to think of an excuse for office. She just messaged her picture to her boss, and wrote: “I am sorry for not being able to make it to the office today, I just had a very rough day!”

While it is good to take a break from your hectic work schedule, it is also important not to deceive someone else for your fun. Be as honest as far as possible.
