The Shape Of Love

The Shape Of Love

The Shape Of Love

They talk about the circle of love
The loop which you can’t escape.

They talk about the triangle of love
Choosing between the one you love and the one loving you.

But what shape do I assign to the love we once shared?

It wasn’t a triangle-
You were mine and I was yours,
Space too less for someone else,
But maybe not in your head.

It wasn’t a circle, not a loop,
Else we wouldn’t get ever out.
Tell me, would that be better?

Seven years of being in love,
And the one year of my fruitless efforts to forget you,
Helped me find the answer.

We were never shaped together.
I was a circle.
So were you.
And the love we once had,
Was mere a tangent.
Touched us both for a little while
Only to never cross us again.
